The proposed Jewar Airport in Greater Noida is all set to be the country’s biggest after completion. With six runways, it will match the world’s largest airports said Arun Vir Singh, the CEO of the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA). Mr. Singh also clarified that about 5000 hectares of land is demarcated as an aviation hub in Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority’s (YEIDA) master plan. He further insisted that everything, including the runways, will come within the land earmarked for the airport and insisted that upon completion Jewar will surely become the biggest airport in the country and also boost real estate property in greater noida.
It will be interesting to note that the Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi has stated that Jewar would become India’s biggest airport and that all the formalities regarding it are being completed. However, the first phase of the project that is expected to become operational by 31st December 2022 will have only two runways with additional runways to come up in the second phase.
The news of the coming up of Jewar International Airport has led to the coming up of 19 bidders who have shown interest in developing Noida International Greenfield Airport at Jewar. The list of bidders also includes GMR, Reliance and Adani Group according to an official spokesman who briefed about the cabinet meeting headed by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
